Stephen started his professional dance training at the age of 21 at the Centre for Professional Dance Training in Edinburgh. During his studies over the past 4 years he has trained in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap dance and choreography, has gained his Higher National Diploma and is currently in the final year of his Bachelor of Arts dance Degree. During his studies Stephen has worked with a variety of established companies, some of which include: X-Factor Dance Co, Scottish Dance Theatre, Company Kafige, Netherlands Dance Theatre and many more. Outside of his college studies Stephen has taken part in Musical Theatre, acting, voice, commercial jazz and tap dance workshops.
Based in Edinburgh, Stephen he has also travelled to the dance capital of the world and taken classes in New York with some of the most renowned choreographers in the industry. Graduating in summer 2007 Stephen has already worked professionally as a dance extra at the MTV Europe awards and appeared in the BBC’s children’s drama Show Box Zoo.
As well as being a keen performer, Stephen has a passion for teaching and has worked with many young people with varied abilities to produce dance workshops and new choreographic works. He has taught in high schools as part of his studies and gone on to work with some of these schools in professional capacity.
In the future Stephen will be appearing in the Opera Orfeo at the Edinburgh International Festival. He also hopes to work more in the commercial jazz industry and continue to teach within the community to support the development of future performers. |
