I am John Mair, QGM, Head Chaperone for the YMT: UK  Leeds Studio. This is my fourth Studio and I am really looking forward to seeing you all.

I was a Fireman for 24 years and 40 days and was retired on medical grounds.
I have a degree in "Community and Youth Work Studies".
I have worked with young people for over 12 years doing everything from detached work (on the streets), to outreach and residentials.
I was also the Youth Integration worker for the North of England Refugee Service where I worked with young people from a wide diversity of cultures and race.

In the 4 years I have been with YMT: UK I have met some fantastic young people and the most amazing artistic staff.
As Head Chaperone it is my job to ensure that the young people are free to enjoy the experience that YMT: UK provide, and the parents/carers can relax knowing that their children are in a safe and secure environment (I love this job). I have 6 daughters and 5 granddaughters and I currently work as a Dad's worker for 'Children North East' through Sure Start.

My favourite Food: Thai prawns in Garli, Corriander and Chillies (hot ones). Yum Yum
My favourite TV programme: Motorcycle racing (MOTO GP, World Superbikes And Isle of Man TT). Fantastic stuff.
My favourite Colour: Really dark red with a deep shine and sparkly bits just like" Beryl" (my Motobike i taking her to Leeds) you can see her there .
My favourite band: I have loads.(Pink, Chumba Wumba, Alison Moyet, Busted, and many more).
My Favourite smell: The smell of Thailand (when i get off the plane at Bankok).
