In addition to touring his solo shows, Gerry has worked with many companies including the David Glass Ensemble, Clown Selvaggio and Bubble Theatre.
In 1991 he was a co-founder of Commotion which toured nationally for six years and gained a reputation for creating stimulating, innovative and accessible comic theatre. In 1998 he set up Shifting Sands Theatre Company based in Derbyshire. The company utilises the play and simplicity of the clown to investigate and reinvigorate classic tales, myths and texts. Past productions include Pandora’s Box, Faustus – A Devilish Comedy! , Boxed In, Romeo & Juliet, Arabian Nights…and Days, The Deadline and most recently The Devil's Doctor. Gerry has directed and appeared in all the Shifting Sands productions.
Gerry has taught clown and a variety of related subjects for the last eighteen years in universities, colleges, schools plus the Circus Space and the City Literary Institute, London.
“A wonderful sense of play - One of the most enjoyable and hilarious productions I have seen – inspiring.” Total Theatre on Shifting Sands’ Romeo and Juliet
“provocative and quite devilishly funny” Ipswich Evening Star on Faustus
“a plot riddled with twists and turns , with enough red herrings and gasp-shock denouements to confuse and stun even the most die-hard Dashiell Hammett fan: spot-on clown and physical theatre.” Total Theatre on The Deadline.
