Nick Stimson is a freelance playwright, theatre director and poet. He is an associate director of The Theatre Royal, Plymouth.
In the past he has worked as a drama teacher, was a Centre Director for The Arvon Foundation and was also the first Director of the Young People’s Theatre and Education Unit at The Young Vic, London. More recently he was the Artistic Director of The National Student Drama Festival. Nick has also been writer/ director in residence in several schools, H.M. Prison Dartmoor and Portland Young Offenders Institution. He has directed, lectured and led workshops in schools, colleges, universities, festivals and theatres throughout the UK and abroad. He also writes and directs for television and radio. Nick is also a regular tutor for the Arvon Foundation.
Awards and prizes include two major Barclays Awards, The Vivian Ellis Prize and the Medal of Culture of the Polish Congress. He has also written and reviewed for many publications including ‘The Sunday Times’, ‘The T.E.S.’ and ‘Resurgence’.
