Joe is a freelance theatre director. He trained at Rose Bruford College where he graduated in 2006 with a BA (hons) Directing. 

At Rose Bruford he was given the chance to experiment with the unique Actor-Musician course they offer.  As a result he is committed to actor-musicianship in music theatre to create a more inclusive, honest experience. 

 

In 2007 he won a place on the ITV Theatre Directors Award Scheme and became Trainee Director in residence with the National Theatre of Scotland.

 

Directing credits for YMT: Manifest (V&A Museum) and extracts from Oh! What A Lovely War for the original Let It Snow.  He has assisted on various YMT productions including The Last Tango, Red Hunter and Amy’s Wedding as well as the first Tunbridge Wells Studio.

 

Directing credits include: Our Teacher’s A Troll (National Theatre of Scotland), Videotape (Oran Mor, Glasgow), One For The Road and Fantasy Football (BAC), 5+1 (24:7 Theatre Festival), Face to the Wall and A Christmas Carol (Rose Bruford College).


He has worked extensively as an assistant director for the National Theatre of Scotland, Royal Court Theatre, The Library Theatre, Stephen Joseph Theatre and in the West End.
